His main research interests are in estimation and control of nonlinear systems. In particular he has worked with estimation and control of diesel and spark ignition (SI) engines, helicopter control, optical fiber pulling, optical fiber preform collapse and loudspeaker control. Elbert Hendricks also has done consulting work for various companies in areas related to his specialty, for example SI and diesel engine modelling, advanced spark ignition engine control systems, natural gas fuelled spark ignition engines, sensor selection and characterization for SI engine control and aftermarket kits for supercharged engines and engine control systems.
