Intelligent and supervisory control
The research area of this group is a combination of the three areas of Control Systems, Computer
Science and Cognitive Science.
The research objectives of the group are to develop concepts, methods and tools for analysis and synthesis of:
- Large scale industrial control systems
- Operator decision support systems for supervisory control
These objectives are met through research in the following topics:
- Diagnosis
- Planning
- Design of large scale industrial control systems
- Human-Machine Systems
A common foundation is the application of levels of abstraction in the modelling of complex systems.
This modelling is centred around means-ends part-whole concepts, and is instantiated in Multilevel Flow Modelling, MFM. This comprises the fifth research topic:
- Means-ends part-whole modelling
